About Counterpoint
Counterpoint started as a personal record of something I wish someone had told me during my first two years in the UK: that a job offer is a starting position, not a verdict, and that not countering it isn't politeness — it's a skill gap, and a genuinely closeable one. I write for people who are still finding their footing in a new country and, like I did, quietly assume that pushing back on a number isn't something they're entitled to do yet.
It isn't a recruitment agency, a career-coaching business, or a professional advice service. It's a personal account, published as an advertorial — meaning some of the content includes paid recommendations for products I've used myself, most notably an online negotiation course. Where that happens, it's clearly disclosed, both at the top of the page and next to the relevant link.
I write for one specific reader: someone who has a solid offer or a fair review in front of them, suspects there's room to ask for more, and would rather learn from someone else's experience than find out the hard way, letter by letter.
